Original Confederate document signed twice by Captain L. P. Grant, CSA Engineers and by Brigadier General Birkett Davenport Fry, CSA.

BGen Fry was wounded five times [Seven Pines, Antietam, Chancellorsville and twice at Gettysburg where he was also captured and sent to Johnson's Island.]

Special requisition for camp kettles and mess pans for negro forces on Defenses of Augusta. The document dated October 18, 1864 for Captain Grant who in October 1862 was appointed to the Engineer Bureau with the rank of Captain. In 1863, Grant was given the responsibility of designing and constructing the 12 mile defensive fortifications that would protect Atlanta in 1864. He was transferred to Athens, Georgia on July 18, 1864 and on May 8, 1865 he was captured.

Captain Grant's invaluable assistance to the CSA was to superintend the construction of the defenses of Atlanta and Augusta and the reconstitution of the raided railways.
