Dear Madame,

I hope you will pardon me for troubling you as frequently. But I am not begging this time. I neither desire nor intend to impose upon you more. I indeed I would not have annoyed you before had I known that you were receiving so many applications. But I am in great need of clothing and thought you might know someone who had not done so much as yourself and who would be so kind as to furnish me with these articles.

We had expected to be supplied by our government but all hopes in that quarter have been dissipated. I do not know certainly that I can obtain a permit, but thought it better to first ascertain if I could find anyone willing to furnish me with the clothing.

Please write me though you may not be able to comply with my request. Yet if you know anyone who will supply me and will give me his or her address, you will greatly oblige.

Your Sincere Friend,

W. F. Robbins

To Mrs. Susan L. Taylor
