Original Civil War Document, written in period ink.

This is to certify that this 25th day of February A.D. 1863 I have mustered out of service in his late rank and at the same time mustered into the service with his increased rank, the following officers of the Twenty-Ninth Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers.

Namely,
Second Lieutenant John M. Deane mustered out of the service as Second Lieutenant, and mustered into the service as First Lieutenant, to date from December 29th 1862.

Promoted vice 1st Lieutenant Thomas H. Husband, 29th Massachusetts Volunteers.

Samuel N. Benjamin
1st Lieutenant, 2nd Artillery
Mustering Officer 9th Army Corps

Both John M. Dean and Samuel N. Benjamin were awarded the Medal of Honor
