Description

Two original Civil War period General Orders related to the Court Martial 3 Officers:

1. 2nd Lieutenant Cortland Van Rensselaer, 14th New York Infantry: "Looting & Conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline."

2. 1st Lieutenant John D Lee, 1st New York Mounted Rifles: "Conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline."

3. Captain & Asst Quartermaster John McHarg, US Volunteers: Misconduct in office & Conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline."

Note: General Order No 51 has an original signature from Edward D. Townsend, Assistant Adjutant General of the Army.
