Camp Barclay
January 11th 1862

Mr. Moore, Sir,

I take this favorable opportunity of writing these few lines hoping to find you in as good health as this leaves me in at present. Thanks be to God for it.

Sir, we have had a very wet and disagreeable weather for the last three or four days. The mud is knee deep and we have not drilled any on account of that the weather being so bad since Wednesday. But it cleared off last night and we are going to drill this morning. There is some hopes of having good weather now for a little while. I hope for it. Very unpleasant in camp in bad weather. I saw Moses Flood this morning and he is well at present and wishes that he was at home again. I hope all your family is enjoying good health at present and give love to them all. And I send mine especially. I never enjoyed better health nor was in finer spirits than I am at present. You must give my love to all the girls of my acquaintances around Chestnut Hill and all inquiring friends. No more at present. But please write as soon as possible. I cannot take any more chances here because they are very strict on us.

Yours very respectfully,

Robert C. Stroup
