Peebles Farm, VA
November 25th 1864

Friend Eastwood,

The bundle containing he papers, magazines, Tracts and the three “Comfort Bags” arrived two days ago and the letter one day ago. They were directed to the 9th Corps while we are in the 5th Corps and they probably went there before coming here. I distributed them by an orderly manner to the Orderly Sergeants of the companies and gave them word to distribute them to the men of their companies. I would be pleased to do the same at any time you see fit to send more to me.

We should like to have you come up and preach to us sometime when it is convenient for you to do so. The Major was quite well pleased with you and so were all the officers who saw you. I was in hopes that you would have remained until I returned but you had gone when I got back. I got back to camp before 12 o’clock but you had gone.

We received from home sauce for our regiment today. One bottle and one bushel of apples. There was just one apple to a man and 35 over. I am with respect your friend.
