th Illinois Volunteers and afterwards Colonel of 9th regiment NY Cavalry. He was promoted to Full Major on 20 Nov 1861. He was commissioned an officer in Company S, New York 9th Cavalry on 20 Nov 1861 at Albany, NY, NY 9th Cavalry.
He was promoted to Full Major on 20 Nov 1861.
He was promoted to Full Lt. Colonel on 27 Jun 1862.
Promoted to Full Colonel on 1 May 1863.
Promoted to Full Brigadier General on 10 Jun 1864.
He was killed on 14 Jun 1864 while leading a charge under General Sheridan at Trevillian Station, Virginia.
