Saturday Morning
March 8th 1862

Friend Charlie,

Our regiment has leaves here for Harpers Ferry tomorrow morning at two o’clock. We are going there to join General Banks Division, which is to move on General Jackson and his forces. Look for something from the Vermont Cavalry.

There is great excitement here. Please inform Will and everyone not to write until I write you again. I will write you first of course.

Please send this to my sister if you can.

All is for the best.
