Nice grouping of fifteen letters written to Nurse Sarah Low by woman connected to Armory Square Hospital, Washington, DC. 5 letters are written by Abbie Francis; 4 by Ellen Marsh; 3 by Lucy Salisbury Doolittle; 2 from Annie Hill; and 1 from Emma Ware. 14 of the letters are dated 1865 and 1 letter is from 1866. All letters are written in period ink and transcribed.
Letters are correspondence between these connected ladies. They write asking about each other and reminisce of their times at Armory Square Hospital. They speak of Dr. Bliss (Physician in charge of Armory Square) and of Miss Dorothea Dix. They also speak about the possibility of establishing a library at Armory Square for the soldiers.
This grouping will make a great addition to any collector‘s Civil War nurses or medical memorabilia.
