105th & 94th New York Infantry - Captured at Gettysburg - NEW

Description

Whiteside commanded the 105^th at Antietam after colonel Carroll was mortally wounded until relived in October by Major Shedd.  He was promoted Captain of the Company to date from 6 October 1862.  After the consolidation between the 105^th and 94^thNew York Infantry regiments in March 1863, he continued in service as a Captain of the 94^th.  He was captured at Gettysburg on 1 July 1863 and was a prisoner of war until paroled 18 April 1865.
