Description
The Hospital Register. West Philadelphia, Oct. 10, 1863. This was essentially an in-house newspaper produced at and for the people at the Satterlee U.S. Army General Hospital in Philadelphia. It was the largest Union Army hospital during the Civil War.
It features a very nice & ornate masthead engraving showing the hospital and well as vignettes, one showing patients in beds. It lasted just over two years from Feb., 1863 through April, 1865.
Articles include, “Chaplain’s Corner”, “List of Letters”, “List of Wounded and Hospital Locations”, “Deaths”, and much more.
Four pages, 11 by 15 ½ inches, nice condition.
