Dr. Anna Inman (1813-1887) of Smithfield, Rhode Island. An 1857 graduate of the New England Female Medical College (NEFMC) – later the Boston University Medical College. While still a student at NEFMC, she visited the New York Medical College for Women and later served as chair of their obstetrics department. She eventually returned to her native Rhode Island to continue her medical career.
