My Dear Sir:
I can only drop you a parting word. We go on board ship tomorrow at eight o’clock. Today all is confusion and noise. I have written to all the various towns asking their contributions our tent and telling them to send the money to Dr. Lusley from whom you will receive it as soon as he gets it. I do hope you will not let the matter full through but by the time you hear from our expedition and communication is opened the tent will be ready to be sent on. I’m sorry you will have to do all the work and all the begging but I think you are willing to do it for the cause. The boys are all well and in good spirits. I hope we shall have a pleasant voyage. May God protect us and give us victory. Remember me to all your family and to other friends in your place and if I never meet you again below may we both be found at the right hand of God.
I am with much love
Your brother in Christ
