American bronze medal commemorating George F Robinson by the United States Mint c.1900, dated 1871. George F Robinson was awarded this medal after protecting the life of the then Secretary of State William H. Seward against a knife wielding attacker. The face of the medal features an embossed profile image of Seward. The back of the medal featuring an embossed image of Mr. Robinson grabbing the arm of the attacker before he could deliver a fatal blow. Inscribed "TO GEORGE F. ROBINSON." "AWARDED BY THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES, MARCH 1, 1871." "FOR HIS HEROIC CONDUCT ON THE 14th DAY OF APRIL 1865, IN SAVING THE LIFE OF THE HONORABLE WILLIAM H. SEWARD THEN SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE UNITED STATES."  in embossed period script on the face of the medal. Inscribed "G. Y. COFFIN. DES." "PAQUET. F." on the back in embossed period script.
