General
Sir, I have the honor to apply for authority to raise a company to join some regimen in your brigade. Believing that I can readily raise a company if I can obtain such authority, and by so doing, be of much more benefit to the service than in the position I now occupy.
I believe that I can raise a company of good material in 10 days. If this plan should be deemed practicable, please let me hear from you soon with instructions as to what course to pursue to affect the object.
Very respectfully,
B. F. Crittenden, Private of Company E, 34th Alabama Infantry Regiment
To
B. J. Hill,
Brigadier General
