On June 28, 1861, General Stonewall Jackson and Joseph Johnston recommended William Bradford be appointed Lieutenant. They spoke of his efficient service while on on secret service" under them. Prior to being assigned to Augusta, Captain Bradford has raised a company for Provost Duty and been assigned to Savannah.
