Mrs. Lucy Abort:

Madam,

Learning through a friend your name and address and that you were a relative of Capt. I. H. A. Wright of my Regiment, I have taken the liberty of writing to you to ask you to lend me a small amount of money. If it is convenient for you to do so, I will return it to Capt. Wright when I am exchanged if you desire it, or to you when circumstances will permit me. Capt. W- and family were well when I was captured, which was in Dec. last.
