Original Confederate Civil War document, War dated, October 15, 1861.
Ordnance Office. State of South Carolina Colonel Manigault replies to Major J. G. Barnwell, Ordnance and Inspecting Officer of the Department of South Carolina concerning his request for 180 pistols and 5,000 friction tubes.
"There are no pistols on hand," the last having been issued to Colonel Martin's Mounted Regiment. The order for the Friction Tubes has been given to the Citadel."
Manigault was later wounded and captured at James Island, SC by elements of the 54th New York Infantry.
