Miss Alice Baldy
Dear Miss
I was at Warrenton with a corps of nurses and everything, a sick or wounded man could wish.
Mr. Baldy was in my ward. Dr. Pugh and myself gave Mr. B. every attention. I asked the Reverend Crumley to see him which he did, several times. He was wounded in the side & when I saw him, was threatened with lockjaw, He was treated actively for this but died on Monday morning. I was obliged to leave on Sunday for this place and did not see him at the end. Early on Sunday morning, I saw him. He was under the influence of Morphine, but recognized me, and asked for Mr. Crumely. He then said "is this life or is it all a dream." He was well attended throughout the attack.
Very Respectfully Yours,
James Carmak
