Mrs. S. L. Taylor
You have been recommended to me by my very esteemed friend, Cap Chambers, who you can query. to as to my worthiness as to your consideration in kindness. And I have been a prisoner for a long time and have almost exhausted all of the clothing that I had on hand. When captured and having no communications with my friends at home, I am compelled to call on you to furnish me with a few articles which I will pay for in the future, if I have luck to survive this imprisonment. I have means at home sufficient to pay for articles that I need. But I cannot command them at this time. This is the first time that I have called on anyone to assist since I’ve been a prisoner. But necessity compels me to do so.
I am very badly in need of under clothing. In fact, clothing of all kinds. If you can furnish me with clothing, kits and let me know and I will send you my size and if you will furnish the clothing, I will be forever grateful to you for your kindness.
I am your obedient servant,
Richard Fancher
