I hereby certify on my honor as an officer that I am in the service of the United States; that James H. Shirley was a member of Company A, 2nd Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers. That he was wounded at Cedar Mountain, VA on the 8th of August 1862 by a rifle ball through the thigh and was discharged on this account and that the above disability arose while in the service of the United States and in the line of his duty. Given under my hand at Goswell, Massachusetts this twenty seventh day of May 1863.
