Document recognizes Corporal Thomas Murphy of Company K, 158th New York Infantry for distinguished gallantry at the fighting near Chapin's Farm, VA on September 30, 1864. Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor on October 15, 1864 for the act of capturing a Confederate flag.
