Original Civil War document written in period ink and war dated. Document has Stone's signature affixed in response to a Mr. E. Hunn of Philadelphia request for the Governor's signature.

A friend of President Abraham Lincoln, Stone was at Ford's Theatre on the evening of April 14, 1865, and witnessed the assassination. He was one of the officers who carried Lincoln across the street to the Peterson House.
