A collection of 57 Civil War-era documents from the 76th New York Infantry. The group includes documents signed by General Gouverneur K. Warren; Lieutenant Colonel John E. Cook, who commanded the regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2–3, 1863, and was wounded at both Gettysburg and the Wilderness; Captain Samuel M. Byram, commander of Company D, who assumed command of the regiment following the Wilderness Campaign until he was wounded at Petersburg; and Lieutenant A. P. Smith, author of the History of the Seventy-Sixth Regiment New York Volunteers.
