War dated Union document signed by 28 soldiers who were under Major J. D. Elliott, Company H, 102nd Ohio Infantry, who at that time was commanding the "Military Prison" at Nashville, TN. This document is signed by the soldiers of various western regiments. Major Elliott was wounded near Athens, AL and died approximately three months later from his wound. He saw action pursuing Bragg into Kentucky, guard duty at Bowling Green, duty in Russellville and Clarksville, helped repel Wheeler's raid (September - October 1863), railroad guard duty and Athens, AL. Nashville POW List of the 102nd Ohio Infantry - Major Elliott was wounded near Athens, AL on September 24, 18164 and died from his wounds less than 3 weeks later.
