Sir,
I have the honor to hereby render the immediate and unconditional resignation of my commission as Major of the 30th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. On account of physical disability as will appear by accompanying surgeon’s certificate.
I have not been absent from the Regiment at any time without leave, was last paid by Major Sherman to include the 31st day of August 1863. I have no government property in possession or for which I am accountable and am not indebted to the Government in anything.
