January 20th 1865


I. Before a General Court-Martial of which Lieutenant Colonel J. Wesley Awl, 201st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers is President, convened at Alexandria, Virginia on Tuesday, January 3rd 1865 by virtue of paragraph II of General Order No. 139, dated Headquarters Military Governor, Alexandria, Virginia December 31, 1864 were arraigned and tried:

Alfred Poh, Company A, 202nd Pennsylvania Volunteers on the following charge and specification:

Charge – “Desertion”

Specification. “In this; that the said Alfred Poh, 202nd Pennsylvania Volunteers having been duly enlisted in the military service of the United States, did, without proper authority, absent himself from his camp and so remain until apprehended at or near Summit Hill, Pennsylvania on or about the 18th day of October 1864 (in citizens clothing). This at or near Camp Curtin, Pennsylvania, on or about the 3rd day of October 1864.”

To which charge and specification the prisoner, Alfred Poh, Company A, 202nd Pennsylvania Volunteers pleaded:

To the Specification, “Guilty.”
To the Charge, “Not Guilty.”

Finding – The court having maturely considered the evidence addressed, finds the prisoner, Alfred Poh, Company A, 202nd Pennsylvania Volunteers as follows:

To the Specification, “Guilty.”
To the Charge, “Guilty.”

Sentence.

The court does therefore sentence him, Privat Alfred Poh, Company A, 202nd Pennsylvania Volunteers to be returned under guard to his regiment for duty, with loss of all pay and allowances now due, to forfeit ten dollars of twelve months and make good all time lost by absence.

II. The proceedings, findings and sentences in the case of Alfred Poh, Company A, 202nd Pennsylvania Volunteers are approved. They will be released from confinement and returned under guard to their regiments for duty. Their sentence will be carried into execution by the Commanding Officers.
