Good morning Sam,
Good morning from John. How are you doing? I am well. Sam, how are you? I am well except a bad cold. How is the rest of the Wheatland Boys? By the way, all is well except [Mathias] Stipe. We left him at Craborched [Illinois] sick. The health of the regiment is getting better. It has been raining here for two weeks past. Well, Sam, the Union boys have gained another glorious victory in Kentucky. You wrote that the 33rd Regiment was coming back to Indiana but it is a mistake. She will never come back until the last rebel is whipped. The 33rd Regiment has had a hard time but she had the boys that can stand it. Sam, I am sorry to hear that Ransom wants to see the Racal with Mc for there are several others playing the same trick. Tell them if there is not enough to send them to write and I will send them some. For God damn them, I ask them no deference. I am glad to hear that [Robert] Shake is coming out. Want you to visit [Robert] Shake often and keep them on the right track and see that squire is not imprisoned. Well Sam, I heard the other day that you were going to get married. You must write and tell us when it is over. We have church every Sunday but it is not like going to meeting in old Knox. For we talk over lessons. Give my best respects to John, Carl and friends for I need to bring this letter to a close. So no more at present but remain yours until death.
