Dear parents,
Your communication of the 24th of April came duly to hand, and was highly pleased to learn that you are all as well, and was highly pleased to learn that you are all as well as can be expected. We have very fine weather here at present. It is pretty warm during the day but the nights are cool and agreeable. Everything takes a new appearance, the fields are covered with a green garment, in short, spring has fully set in, with all its beauty. We had service this afternoon, Lt. Champion of the 8th New York Battery delivered a most impressing sermon. His text was first Corinthians fifteenth chapter and the 42, 43, and 44 worths. I received a letter from Bro Daniel and also one from Jacob. Daniel was unwell but said he would commence to work again in a few days. Jacob and family are all well. I wrote a letter to Wm Moll about the Sunday school but received no answer yet. Now I would like to know if he is at home yet or if he is somewhere else. If you know, please let me know. Do you receive the “Cavalier” yet every week? I am well, may this find you all the same. Remember me to all my friends and give my best respects to all.
Your dutiful son,
David S. Harpel
