My Dear Anna,
At last the boat bearing the confederate surgeons has arrived and our poor fellows who have so often been disappointed are in a fair way to be off. As I write, the clerk says “surgeons get their things ready.” So I must be brief. I wonder when that order will be given us. Our hope is good. I think I am very well and in good spirits.
Love to all.
Your affectionate brother,
T. Paulding
