Dear Brother,
Yours of the 6th came to hand on the 7th. It found me enjoying good health as usual. I am sorry to hear that Andrew and Harris are sick. I trust it will not be very serious. There is very little transpiring to write about. I suppose you have heard that Moses Lounsbury had enlisted for this regiment and Company C. He was sent first to Hart Island, NY, then to City Point by transport. Thence back to Washington where he found the Regiment was then assigned by the Colonel to Company K, Fort Reno. As soon as Paul heard he was there he went to see him and afterwards brought him over here to see the boys. Says he would like to get in our company. The captain will do all that lays in his power in getting him here. He (Moses) has only enlisted for one year.
I suppose you have had a good long talk on this with John Lounsbury who started for home on a ten day furlough last Friday morning. And I tell you he went away in good spirits. He said he would bring my overcoat on with him. Also said he would speak to Jim about making me a pair of boots. I don’t want a very heavy pair.
I have not been down to Washington yet to see Uncle Theodore but will the first opportunity.
I have a company roll of the company as it was last winter. I will send it home by mail. I wish you would have it framed for me like your picture of the Court of Death and send amount of expenses. Hang the picture up in the front room.
Received the Suburban Reporter and Times on the 8th. McIntyre must have had quite a large attendance at his funeral by the description in the Reporter.
By the way the West Farms S. Guard must be getting to be a well drilled organization by this time. Ain’t they?
I think of nothing more at present so will dry up my kind regards to all enquiring friends and you.
Will oblige yours truly
