Convent Hospital

November 16, 1862

Dear Captain,

I have not as yet received a reply from you, which leads me to suppose you did not get my letter. I hope, however, this may reach you and find you with all the boys in good health. My knee will soon be well, that is, healed; as to use it. I very much fear I can’t for a long time if ever. The cap is broke. And it has discharged so much that it is weak still. I can bear half my weight on it. Well, to the point. Captain, I would take it as a great favor if you would please forward my descriptive list. The clerk by order of the doctor, sent for those that had not come some two or three days previous. But I want to make assurance double sure by writing myself. They seem to be so negligent in this hospital that I can’t trust them to attend to anything for me except I see them. I do wish you would send it, the sooner the better, for me. Then I shall feel more contented. I close requesting you to give my regards to all the boys and accept the same.

From your ever obedient servant,

David M. Wilson

P.S. Don’t fail to write as soon as possible. D.M.W.
