Capt. Swan of Company C 57th Regiment Ill Volunteers

It is with pleasure I write to let you know that I am well again and willing to go back to fill my place in the above named Company and Regiment providing you will send me money to pay my expenses or you may send a pass for without one or the other I don’t see any chance of getting back soon. As I haven’t been able to work to get any money. I have tried to go on a boat and work for my passage but they won’t take me on them terms. As soon as you get this write and let me know what you will do so that I will know what to depend on.
