Dear Sister

I have just received your letter a few minutes ago and now I will answer it immediately. I was very glad to hear from you. I am getting along very well at present and hope this will find you enjoying the same blessings. You must excuse my bad writing for I am in a hurry as it is getting late and I have a few more letters to write tonight. Do not show that picture to any one and I will have one taken better than that, as that is a very poor one. I guess I would know you most any where if I should see you. I was very glad to get that photograph. He looks very thin but it is a very handsome picture. I wrote to him the other night. I asked him to stop here when goes home and I may come with him. Haven’t you received any checks Cal. I wrote to her to send Father 26 dollars in checks to pay your fare out there but she may not have received the letter. But I will write to her immediately about it. You say Fathers complains about my not writing to him. I don’t see why in thunder, excuse that big word, he don’t get my letters. You remember when Father wrote to me, I sent him a letter three of four days before I received his. Now I will put one in the office the same time. I will this and see if he will get it. Give my best respects to Peter. You say Lyle would call you courting if you should send him such envelopes that has all gone out of fashion and small plain ones in their place. I am very much obliged to you for picking me out a wife, but you must wait until I get out of the army. You sent a very charming description of the lady. I must stop now for I can’t think of any more to write now. So, good bye. Write as soon as you get this letter.

From your Brother

P.S. I received a letter from Cousin Sarah Patchin the other day. They are all well. I wrote to Charley McKallor but have not received an answer yet.
Your,
Lew
