Office Medical Director Post
Chattanooga, June 27, 1864
I enclose your order of transfer to hospital, and trust the change, which I advise to be extended to Louisville, may be advantageous.
Should your condition after the necessary interval of rest be such as to warrant your return to this Malanis region, I should be very glad indeed to have your cooperation on Lookout Mountain. It is just possible that the altitude at which you would be in that position, would give you immunity from the trouble which could be likely to beset you in the Valley – indeed in this Department.
I do not know of so suitable a station as one in which you could render more effective service.
Very Respectfully
Your Obedient Servant
F. Salter
Superintendent
Surgeon R. M. S. Jackson
Jackson served as a surgeon with the 3rd & 11th Pennsylvania Infantry
Salter served the assistrant surgeon & surgeon with the 7th Ohio Infantry
