My Friend,
The box of provisions came safe to hand this morning. It brings a thrill of joy with it to the party being tired of our fare or at least wishing a change. I wish you to receive my warmest thanks for the strings sent. You spoke of the blessing that can bring so from an apology everything is very nice. The razor is splendid from which I am under many obligations to you. I hope the time will come when I will be able to return the kindness but under other circumstances.
Captain Muth received the money sent him and two friends received the hats that were in the box. Lieutenant Seabrook is all well. You spoke of fearing that the authorities would not let them be received. They allow us to receive all boxes of provisions. I am happy to hear that Mrs. Albert is recovering. Hoping that she will be up soon. Give her my kind regards.
I must close my note by saying that I will be happy to hear from either of you at any time.
Your Friend,
Lieutenant J. R. Chambers
