Dear Friend George,

I am now seated for the third time to write to you and not having received one word from you.  I declare I won’t to you again until I hear from you.  I am going to send this by a friend that is going home to P. on a visit.  His name is Seymour G. Gardiner and I want you should send me a pair of suspenders by him.  Will you?  If you will, you will greatly oblige me.

Give my love to Angeline and tell her that I want her to write to me and tell me all the news.  I shall not write to you again until you do so to me.  Yours in haste.

Joseph W. Blake

P.S.  Please to send me some matches by the bearer.  Give my best respects to Kate and kiss the baby.

P.S. 2nd  Please give my best respects to Jim and Ed Carver and tell them that I am well and want them to write to me.  Will you?  Also to George Jarvis and I will answer their letters and be sure and send the suspenders and matches.  Yours in haste.

J.W. Blake

The last letter I wrote to you I directed to Box 445 that was the right box was it not?
