Dear Sister,
I now sit down to let you know that I am well, and I hope these few lines will find you the same. I am well. I received your letter last week, and today I thought I would write to you. There is no news here, any there.
It was a great time in this city last Saturday and Sunday. There was a good deal of fighting here, and we were all ready to go to the fight, and the guns on the fort were loaded to be ready. But we did not have to go, but it is all quite quiet now. I thought last week we would have to go away from here to go to General Banks, but we did not, and I guess we will not go now. There is nothing more to write this time.
In this letter, you will find some money, and I want you to get me some postage stamps, and to send me some. I cannot think of anything more to write this time, so goodbye.
From your brother,
Abram Kennedy
