Camp Casey
Nov 27th, 1861

Dear Miss,

I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well at present and I hope that this will find you the same. I would like to see you once more but I often think of you though far away and how often do I think of the old times that we have spent together. But there is no use talking about what is past for I suppose that you and Peter is most married. But I would be sorry to hear of it, because I think that he will not suit you. But I suppose that you will do as you please. I would like to see you get somebody that will make a better husband then he will. But you must not think hard of me writing this because I think it my duty to give you my advice because we are old acquaintances and I think that I know more about him then you do. But you need not take my advice. I will let this matter rest now. We have some fine times here and some hard times but I don’t believe that I will have the times we had last Spring. I hope that we will have the pleasure of meeting again in this world. There is some big city to be seen here and I think that this thing will be settled soon but I have no more to write this time. Give my love to all my old friends and keep a portion for yourself. No more at present. Write soon. I remain your true and faithful friend.

Mr. William W. Young
