Sir,
I have the honor to report that I arrived in Hagerstown yesterday. And after an unsuccessful search for you, I rejoined my Regiment at this place.
The strongest orders of the commanding office will not allow me to report in person to you and I beg you will accept this as notification of my waiting your action.
