Governor William A. Buckingham

Dear Sir,

As a loyal citizen I have an interest in sustaining the laws and am willing to do all that lies in my power to protect the flag of our Union. I have raised one company for the war at an expense of over three hundred dollars and being a man of limited means, I have been rather discouraged at the turn things have taken with me. If in any capacity I can serve you and the State I am at your service during the war.
