Dear Father,
I take my pen in hand to let you know how I am getting along. I am well at present and hope these few lines will find you the same. I got your letter the other day and was glad to hear from you. I got five dollars in that letter. We think that we shall leave to go down on the peninsula again in a few days. The rumor is here that we are going into days now. It rained here the other day and it is very muddy. Here now we have very cold mornings. Now you said Sheldon was at home now. I am going to try to get home one way or another. I must close this letter now.
From your son,
Charles Henry Angell
Tell Sheldon Angell if you see him that there seems nobody knows that he is at home but Willard Victor at present.
Tell him to write to me. I haven’t got time to write any more at present for I have got to write to Petey Angell now so good bye at present. I must be home in two or three months now.
Charles Henry Angell.
