Friend Al,
Yours of the first is at hand and I was very glad to hear from you. I have nothing to write that will interest you much but I must answer now for I can’t tell when I will get a chance again for we expect every day to move. We have had marching orders for two weeks. The Rebs took Franklin day before yesterday but had to leave again with the loss of 900 prisoners.
I don’t hear anything from Will Rittenour. Have not since I have been in the army. Hen Kerr is nearby, well. He had been in camp twice since he was wounded. I guess Bunker is so busy with the girls, he can’t answer my letter. I have not had one from him for a month.
We have a good brigade now. The Fourth Regulars and Fourth Michigan, Second Indiana, two pieces of artillery and the old 7th. We can knock thunder out of old Wheeler and some of his men has found out.
I suppose the men now are having fine times. I wish I was in old Cata about two weeks to have some fun.
It is after taps and I will close. Give my respects to all friends. Answer.
Yours,
E. H. Gensel
Catawissa Boys all right side up.
Tell C. Pfahler to write to me.
