Dear Wife,
I will take a few moments this very stormy morning to write a line to you. But do not know whether I shall be allowed to send it or not. I am well this morning and have just eaten my breakfast of Hardtack. Ira and I tent together and our tent is what is called a fly tent. And it is made so as to be carried on one’s back. It is large enough for two to crawl under out of the way of the storm and one can sit up in it. I can’t wand up. I don’t know where we shall go to from here. Nor when we shall leave. We most likely shall leave today. We expected to have left here last night and to have gone to Fredericksburg but we did not go then and so here we are this morning. John Ira. Freeman he is well. The road from here to Fredericksburg is line with teams loaded with the wounded on their way to Washington. The team bring our wounded and carry back ammunition and provisions which is landed here from boats. I expect we are going into the 6th Corps but don’t know. I am in hopes to hear from you soon. For I am very anxious to hear from Sewell and Dorcus again. Ira sends a letter with mine for Father’s folks. Give my love and respects to all and may get bless us all is the wish of your ever loving husband,
