Mr. Theodore Coburn

Dear Father,

With pleasure I once more take my pen to write you a few lines to let you know I am well and hearty at present and hoping these few lines will find you the same. We arrived at this place yesterday. We don’t know how long we will stay here. We have been on our horses every day since the 23rd of September when we left Louisville.

I guess some of the boys are beginning to want to stop a few days. I guess we will stop here a day or two and draw some clothing. Old Hood is only a short distance from here and probably we will go to see him. We have got very good lot of horses and therefore they will be apt to keep us on the road. I like it a great deal better with my regiment than I did in the hospital. I saw David Seabright when we were leaving Florence, Alabama. But I did not get to speak to him. He was going home in a short time. We have had several very cold nights lately. Last night was a bitter cold night. But this morning is very pleasant. Well Pap, I suppose there is right excitement about the election in that corner of the moral vineyard. I don’t hear much said about it here in the army. I think Mac will get his share of the votes of the soldiers if they get to vote. Well I will give him the best. I can if I get a chance. I will close for the present. Hoping to hear from you soon. I remain as ever,

Your son,

Charles L. Coburn
