Dear Parents,
I received it you wrote on the 5th day of this month and was very happy to hear from you and to hear that you were all employing good health. As it leaves me at present time, I think the war will sometime yet but I hope not for I would like to come home to see you. I am very sorry to hear that Mother is sick. Tell her to take good care of herself. We are not paid off but tell her when we get paid I will send a nice present. Tell her not to worry about me at all. The Rebels keep making raids in on our picket lines and getting us out at night after them. I have stopped drinking anything strong. I am a going to try to live a better life. Tell Brother Amos to obey his officers and send his money home and not gamble. Tell my Sister to keep out of bad company. My love and best respects to you all and all the folks about there. Write as soon as you get this.
From your affectionate Son,
Andrew Sellerberger
